He’s known for being a talented, creative & sexual sensation on Youtube, but Bryan Hawn has not only a lot to say, but quite the career to reflect upon. The Georgia native has won state track and field competitions,  modeled, danced, starred in a reality TV show,  featured in various  media regarding his pet African hyena, authored numerous books including one about how to achieve a Bryan Hawn butt, and has become a Youtube superstar with over 31 million views. Oh, and he now has a Youtube comedy series called “Bromance.”    

His mother was quoted recently as saying “Bryan is 100% relentless.” True, in my observation. I have watched Bryan from afar for years and always found him to be not only unique, but also fascinating, intriguing, and surprisingly polarizing. For our PnV/Fashionably Male interview, Bryan agreed to do a no-topic-off- the- table profile. I found him to be precise and polite, confident, detail-oriented, and forthcoming.  This is PART ONE of our profile of the iconic Bryan Hawn.

As always, let’s start with your statistics. Bryan, what is your weight/height/waist?  Hair/eye color?  Your hometown and current residence?  Who represents you (if anyone)?

“I JUST HAD SEX”    

So, at age 12, in the Junior Olympics track & field running, you finished 3^rd in the nation in the 800M.  You were a sneaky fast white boy LOL.   Tell us about that.

I had a strong passion for running when I was little. I won 5 state championships and broke all my school records. I definitely have a driven competitive nature to be the best at whatever I’m involved in. At higher levels of competition, I was always the only white boy in the race. In high school, music became my focus and track and field fizzled out.

You grew up with 3 siblings in a very affluent household in Atlanta, Georgia.   Would you say you were raised with strict conservative values typically found in the Deep South?  How does   the cultural underpinnings of your southern upbringing impact how you once and currently view the world?

My mom instilled a lot of beautiful values into my life. It was a great foundation that has helped me stay true to myself in the midst of environments that tend to compromise others. I definitely grew up in a house filled with love. It was showed in unwavering support for my dreams and goals whatever they may have been or how they may have changed. There was a lot of focus and teaching on the importance of the mind, and how filling it with the right thoughts can make or break someone’s success. Our lives having value stems from our ability to impact and lift up other people. Making a difference in the world with our gifts and talents and keeping love the center focus that threads through everything we say and do. Learning to take those things combined with finding the courage to be my authentic self has been a very powerful combination in my life. I am grateful for my upbringing. Remembering where I came from has given me the strength to not crumble under the pressures of the world, but continue moving forward towards my destiny in the midst of many obstacles.

Years ago, Bryan, you and your family were on ABC’s “Vacation Swap” reality show (similar to “Wife Swap”) in Aspen, Colorado.   How realistic is reality TV?   Why did you personally come across so badly on that show?

Reality shows like most TV is about entertainment. Our family was cast for a specific role and the lines and takes that were used in the show representing the characters and vision of the network. If you didn’t give the network what they wanted, then you weren’t gonna appear very much in the show. They wanted a spoiled rich kid dramatically out of his comfort zone. They wanted conflict, drama, and shock factor. Sometimes, they even had notecards for us to read if we weren’t giving the lines they wanted. I had to play the character of a kid who was going through hell on earth living in a trailer for a week, when in reality, I had just moved to Los Angeles at the time on my own dime and was living in an attachment to a trailer.  It was actually a greenhouse with no outlet, no heat or air conditioning, and I lived right next to the juvenile hall in Sylmar, Ca. But I was pursuing my dream and that’s what mattered. I don’t think I came off badly in the show. I think I was extremely entertaining, and from that aspect, I gave the network exactly what they wanted. In entertainment, it’s not always about trying to be Miss America and everybody loving you. It’s about giving people a memorable performance that they will talk about, and that can be presented in many different lights. If you want to last in the world of TV and entertainment, you learn quickly to let go worrying about what people will think of you, and focus more on the trying to captivate their attention. Because with all the other options of entertainment out there, the fact that they are thinking of you at all in itself is an accomplishment.

“AVALANCHE”

At age 16, I understand that you were signed by CLICK modeling agency?  Tell us how that happened.     

I walked in a modeling agency. They set me up with a professional commercial photographer, and I started working locally in Atlanta, GA with my first agency. It was my first experience in front of a camera. I realized from an early age that I enjoyed being in front of the camera.

Bryan, in 2002 at age 18, you had a record deal and moved to Los Angeles. I guess the label went out of business shortly after signing you. Tell us about those circumstances and how you had to make lemonade out of lemons and finance your own records.

Sometimes in life, things don’t go the way you plan, and you have to find other routes to try and get you to the same destination. Funding my own project was rewarding. I liked that I was investing in my dream. It put me in the driver’s seat and made me feel empowered with the direction of my life.

Your song “More than Enough” went to #1 on Logo Network’s “Click Countdown” and was #2 video of the year on Logo in 2008. How exciting was that?

My song hitting No. 1 on Logo was one of the top 3 most exciting moments in my life. My whole life I had dreamed of being a singer, and I had put so much time, effort, and money into that project. It made all the sacrifice worth it, and breathed life into something I had dreamed about since I was 4 years old.

What are the best ways for fans to hear your own music? What musical genres and artists inspire you musically? You have also covered a lot of artists, Bryan. Looking back at the final product, what covers are you most proud?

The best way for people to hear my music is on Itunes. I am inspired by great singers. Mariah Carey is my all-time favorite. She is vocally unstoppable. The cover I am the most proud of is my version of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” when I was a senior in high school. With it being such a tall order, I think it was delivered beautifully.

Modeling-wise, you have been on billboards in LA, kiosks in Times Square and posed for retailers like Macy’s, Dillards’s and JCPenney. You were named best Swimwear Model at a show in Vegas. Bryan, tell us about your two most memorable modeling experiences.

Landing the campaign for Play Underwear was the first moment where family and friends would be walking through malls and text me saying, “Bryan, there’s a poster of you in the underwear department of Macy’s.”  It was cool to experience that level of success with a career path where people are always telling you to have a plan B. But I have never been the type to have plan B, it only distracts from plan A.

You have over 250 Youtube videos, over 31 million views of your videos — not to mention a million social media followers. So, Bryan, when and how did the Youtube parody phenomenon take off for you?  Was this by design of did you just realize you had stumbled onto something?  I recall my first Bryan Hawn video…it was ‘Baby, Baby” by the Biebs lol. 

It was always a dream for any youtuber to have video go viral. For me, stumbling upon the formula was a complete accident. But in a nut shell, listening to your audience and delivering what they want is the simplest format I can put it in. “What I Did All Weekend” which is the “Baby, Baby” video you are referencing, was the first video to unveil my formula for captivating a large audience.

‘WHAT I DID ALL WEEKEND:’  

I’m a bit naïve on technology, but can a person make a living creating Youtube videos?

Making a living on youtube is a real thing. Thousands of youtubers are making quite a living off selling products, content, and of course the advertising ads.

What are your favorite Bryan Hawn video parodies to date (I loved the Mariah Carey Christmas one)?  How do you choose which songs? Why do you so rarely parody classics from the 1960’s to ‘90’s?  That would be fun!    

My favorite parodies to date are Adele “Hello”, Sia “Bird Set Free, & “Bromance”. I pick songs based on what is trending at that time. It needs to be current and popular so it gets a lot of traffic from the youtube search engine. Timing is everything. That’s why I rarely parody songs from other decades.

Tell us about this exciting new web series called “Bromance’ with the very cute Harry Farrell.

It is a fun new comedy series about a gay guy and his straight best friend. We are actually best friends in real life so it makes it easy to work together and come up with content. I have big plans to launch this on a much bigger scale. Great things are in the works.

Your website bryanhawn.com does not have a lot of exclusive content for paying members. What have been the challenges and decisions that have gone into having a site.

My VIP section of my website is growing slowly overtime. Every now and then a video gets banned from youtube, so it gives me a chance to still share it with my fans. I also have several workout videos on some of the advanced movements that have really changed my body. Also, access to my ebay store is a fun way for people to purchase props and swimwear from various youtube videos. I’m sure as time goes by it will grow. Members can cancel at any time, so I feel good about what’s being offered at the moment.

Wedding Flavored Jackets

Weddings are difficult in this heat, right? What if I have a solution for you? Nehru jackets are all the craze this wedding season! These jackets will keep you in style without the heat and excessive sweating as well as keep your arms free for all the dancing! Go for either casual leather ankle length shoes, slip-ins or leather loafers but horse shoe buckle!

Your alternate option can be a waistcoat! Yea just a waistcoat over a shirt and no jacket is sincerely a huge turn on for women! Also, it is a casual style! You cannot go wrong with this! Beat the heat in the coolest way possible this wedding season.

Funky Track Pants

There is this new style trend around the block. Go for the narrowing track pants this season. It is fitted around your ankle, almost secure and not uncomfortably tight. It is great for sweat absorption and also a bit loose around your thighs for free movement and flexibility.

You should opt for the printed track pants if you wish to go all out this summer. Pair these up with single colored tank t-shirts or casual t-shirts. It is a great style but make sure the prints aren’t too bright. Keep it subtle and dim but wear a bright colored t-shirt to go with it!

Get Shorty

You cannot possibly get enough shorts this summer! It is all about the beach and casual looks. Thankfully fashion is in favor of your comfort always and shorts are the hottest trend! What you need to know is the important shades this season.

Shorts are pretty much as basic as sunglasses in summer. You need ‘em. But it is important to do it right. Let’s see if anyone can be a real alpha male.Since the days of B.C., man has followed leaders, people of high lineage, so they can be their guides in life, we want to know how to identify that leader, as knowing who the alpha male is and why all the world is following.

The term alpha male comes from anthropology and social psychology that is a really a top man, a chief, a boss a leader of a group, hierarch, etc, every human being followed by people.

1. The first key is the relative width of the shoulders. Science has discovered that in a group of individuals, which has the biggest shoulders is the following one.
2. The Alpha Male leads in the interaction, imposes its choices and has its own universe. Women and other Men are attracted to Men with power (also other guys). A Man with power is someone who has high values indirectly survival. Do you thinks so? I am. 
3. Seduction: the fact of directing can be associated with a statute. You are a leader so your social life can organize by social meetings, being head of something, directing means being able to express and how you can achieve it. You get that?
4. An Alpha Male is attractive. Instead, what some may not know is that being attractive does not mean one nigh stand with others. There is a difference between self-confidence and arrogance. That this is sure he does not need to prove it. Arrogance is a weakness, a vice.
5. The last sign of being an Alpha Male is to lead, having power of conviction, with a  propose, collect the opinions of everyone, but at the end he is the one who makes the final decision. A good leader is known to assume their decisions, whether good or bad.

How you can identified an Alpha Male in the way he looks, it can vary, but I think you may qualify this following points:

• Hardworking Hipster type: Artisanal browns, raw neutrals and organic greens accented with rustic reds or selvedge blues celebrate the newfound masculinity of those who’ve left their anthropology degrees and hand-me-down volvos behind fo a better life.

  Angsty alpha type: Masculine and moody, while these exceptional colors should be used sparingly, if at all, by the proletariat, the rules simply don’t apply to society’s dominant males. Elitist ebonies, condescending cobalts and grandiose greys accented with powerful purples and metallics grays.

  An Unemployed underachiever type: Wait! Do you think this kind of guys could be an Alpha Male, read and you’ll see it: Could be identified with colors that are bold and bright are the signature of this demographic that is anything but. Lacrosse jerseys, UFC hats and frat t-shirts reference the glory days of the recent past. Most of them has nice toned fit body, but they covered with layering clothes.

  Timid technophile type: Having stuck out for their entire painful adolescence, these nascent professionals just want to blend in. This year a versatile spectrum including both warm and cool greys aways them. When feeling particularly extroverted, a confident black or white can be integrated into the wardrobe, and any color is acceptable in the form of a beloved logo.

  Paranoid prepper type: To recognize this guy is easy, these colors don’t run…unless they’re chasing hordes of nanny-state zombies through the ruins of a collapsed society. If you’re  currently preparing for a violent armageddon or shaking your fist at the goverment, this is your  color familty. Graudated greens, discreet drabs and basic browns let you disappear into any environment and outflank the starving hordes of normals. Add a dash of blaze orange as a cagey tip-off for friendly militants to hold their fire.

  This is the complete guide to identify a Macho Alpha, so any sign you recognized you  had on your own, or somebody else, well now you know. Don’t feel intimidated to know one guy of this, they are everywhere, they are our teachers, Presidents, Mayors, the leader of a band, the leader of an AA group, our fathers and sugar daddies.

So many requests and comments about last Summer Trends topic we wrote about. After seen and anaylized Menswear Collection in London, Milan and Paris. Spring 2017 collections brought back traditional colours, modern shapes and a range of unexpected accessories for the hotter months. From 50’s inspired shirts to overalls, this guide will help with navigating the hottest trends of the season Spring/Summer 2017 wardrobe.

1. Fifties Shirts

50s shirts exemplified by the runway collections of Raf Simons and Louis Vuitton. Balance out this trend with a tailored pant and accessorise with darker wayfarers for a true fifties vibe. This silhouette works perfectly in darker tones as well as powder hues, but contrast is key when combining colours, to sustain a more polished look.

2. Bomber Jackets

Menswear Spring/Summer 2017 collections as a style reference and try them in dark hues.  Bomber jackets are versatile for casual days and keep looks cool and comfortable. Gucci and Giorgio Armani this trend with the variety of new colours and materials available to keep things more contemporary.
